Emotional regulation and body dissatisfaction: the mediating role of anger in young adult women

Introduction Emotion regulation difficulties have an important role in the presence of negative self-image. These problems self-regulation emotion could lead to emotional processes (such as anger) that can body dissatisfaction. Therefore, aim present study was examine than negatively impact self-image and understand if anger acts mediator relationship between Methods A cross-sectional carried out comprising 565 young adult women aged 18–30 years. The participants were administered Difficulties Regulation Scale (DERS), State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory 2 (STAXI-2), Body Dissatisfaction dimension Eating Disorder Inventory-2 (EDI-2). proposed hypotheses tested by path analysis MPlus 8.0. Results results indicated had a positive significant effect on dissatisfaction well non-acceptance responses, lack awareness, clarity. Of all dimensions difficulties, impulse control difficulty which indirect explained increased anger. Discussion suggests importance prevention Impulse may be key explaining increments Among adults, promotion image promoted helping this population self-regulate their impulses.
